Patna: The Bihar government has taken a crucial decision.
The 14-day Institutional Quarantine, or Home Quarantine, is said to have brought millions of migrant workers from various states to the state. However, after 14 days they are sending them back to their home villages.
Condoms for free
Against this backdrop, the government is offering free condoms to migrant laborers who leave Quarantine to avoid an unintended pregnancy.
There are still 5.30 lakh migrant workers in blocks and district centers.
Migrant laborers go to their homes after the 14-day Institutional Quarantine ends.
Unintended pregnancies can occur in this context.
The state health department said it was doing this for family control and not about coronavirus.
“It is our duty to keep the population under control,” a health official said. The program is being carried out in collaboration with health partner Care India.
We are doing this because of the possibility of an unexpected pregnancy in the wake of the lockdown.
Officials said the quarantine of all migrant workers would end until June 15.
Health co-ordinators are already offering condoms in two packets at Quarantine Centers. Asha workers are going home and screening those in Quarantine.
So far, 4049 corona cases have been registered in Bihar, while 1313 are active cases. A total of 2414 people recovered and 64 people died of corona.Home » World News »
